This post is the last you'll hear from me for a while, probably a couple of weeks at a very minimum.
Remember The Big Fall in June? Well, they did about a thousand different tests and scans on me during the two days I was in the hospital. And though I didn't break any bones, and it was determined that the fall was not due to any cardiac problems, they did find a tumor on my right kidney that was determined to be cancer. As it turns out, falling was a lucky thing, since the dr told me that by the time I had symptoms, there might be very little they could do for me.
So on Monday, July 28, I'm having surgery to remove the tumor. Hopefully that will take care of it, but if not, I have every confidence in my doctors. I've been told that there is a good chance that I'll be just fine, I just need time to recover. I'll be off work for 6 weeks, and I'm hoping that soon I'll at least feel good enough to check in here, and read all of your blogs.
If you would, please keep a kind thought for me, and if you are the praying type, I would appreciate a prayer. I'll be back as soon as I can be.

Hopefully you will be discharged quickly from the hospital and get to spend most of your recovery time at home with your family. Oh, Bridget! I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is good that they caught it early -- a true fluke, huh? It sounds like the outlook is excellent, but it isn't going to be fun in the meantime. You are definitely in my thoughts.

ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about you. My brother had a cancerous tumor on his kidney 30 years ago -- had surgery and he has been happily cancer-free since then. I'll pray for the same outcome for you!

ReplyDeleteOh Bridget. By now you have had your surgery and are well on the way to recovery. That's my pronouncement and I'm sticking to it!! I will keep you in my prayers. I have faith that all will be well. I had a heart attack in June 2013...absolutely NO indication that anything was wrong with me! I'm 110% recovered, have a stent so I consider myself a little bit bionic. We've never met but that doesn't mean anything. I love reading your blog and look forward to lots more posts and book reports! I sincerely mean it when I say please give a shout out if there is anything I can do. I'm not that far away...NJ.
