Back to the Routine

Well, our company has left, the extra laundry is done, and I'm finally feeling like I'm back into my routine. On the one hand, I tend to get really bored when my routine doesn't vary at all; but then when it's a lot of variation all at once, I welcome the return to plain old everyday life. Last weekend we had fun, going to the shore for the day and walking around, looking in whatever shops were open. Saturday evening, we went to a Mexican restaurant and had a yummy dinner, and then Sunday while The Tim was at work, we walked around town and our guests had themselves a little shopping spree. That evening we watched the Oscars, with the added benefit of commenting on everyone and everything, being that the four of us are, of course, experts.

By the way, I just want to say for the record that I was THRILLED that "Slumdog Millionaire" won the Best Picture Oscar. I.Love.That.Movie. It's one of my very favorites, ever. Trust me, be glad that I have refrained from talking about it here, because I can go on and on and on and on and ...

Not a lot of knitting has been happening lately. Occasionally I've noticed that a week or so will go by, and though I do a little bit here and there, I just cannot sit down and concentrate long enough to make any real headway. Sometimes it's because I become really involved in a book I'm reading, other times, I just am not in the mood to do much of anything. It doesn't really worry me, because it's always a passing thing, but I'm always surprised when I realize how long it has lasted.

I do, however, have a knitting-related picture to share with you. My niece La Liz sent a picture of Zach wearing the Zach Attack Hat I knit him for his third birthday.

(He does love to pose for the camera!) I think it looks really cute on him, and La Liz said he loves it, and asks to wear it whenever they go outside. Yay Zach!

Finally, apropos of nothing, I have to ask all of you this question: Does the Geico insurance commercial with the eyeballs sitting on a stack of dollar bills annoy anyone else, or is it just me? I just think it's stupid, and would like to know who thought it was such a great advertisement for the company ... because maybe they should get a smaller stack of dollar bills in their paycheck? Anyway, every time they show it, I wonder to myself if anyone likes it. I'd be interested to know what makes it appealing, that I am apparently missing altogether.

Discuss.

Bridget- Someone really likes his hat.

You know, TV commercials on the whole annoy the crap out of me. My father used to get so upset watching people's court, his face would get red.

So I don't watch TV.

You know, I really hated those Geico cavemen, but now that their commercials have that stupid stack of money, I really want the cavemen back.

I find those eyeballs so annoying that I mute and turn away whenever it comes on! And others have told me the same. So I'm surprised these commercials haven't been pulled and our friendly little gecko hasn't been brought back.

Hate the cavemen more then the dollars since the dollars don't make any idiot comments. What ever happened to loyalty. Just stick with the funny little gecko. Love my DVR basically because I record most everything I watch and can avoid many stupid commericals.

Love Zach in the attack hat. Gotta a pattern for those of us still in scarf land?

I've gotten to the point where I can't watch commercial television anymore. Thank goodness for the DVR! And those Geico commercials are near the top of the annoyin/mute-it-now list :)

I don't get those Geico commercials either. I hope whoever had that idea got fired. I think the ones that came before the gecko and the cavemen were less stupid than those since. A very few commercials are amusing, but most are just annoying, not to mention too damn long.

I rarely watch TV so am not annoyed by commercials. In fact, our only TV is not on cable or anything so we get maybe 4 or 5 channels and when the signal changes over, well, we will no longer get any channels at all as I vaguely understand it.

Getting that picture must have put a big smile on your face!

Hopefully, unlike those dreadful cavement, the eyeball money will not get their own tv sitcom - cross your fingers!

I like the gecko. I absolutely do not get the stack of money with eyeballs. My less than politically correct response is WTF?!

I find them stupid.

Agreed. I've seen it, and I don't get the point. Commercials in general miss the point in my books. I just saw a car commercial where a girl uses her girly "charms" to get a guy with the "nice" car. We've come so far.

In't it wonderful to see a "little" movie beat out all the yawn Hollywood spends millions to put out?!! I finally saw "Atonement" the other day, and thought - W.T.F.

Hello ~ my friend Bridget!
It sounds like you had a great visit with your company.
That nephew of yours could not be cuter! The hat fits him perfectly {size and personality}!
And I don't get the Geico commercial either. I find a lot of commercials annoying these days and wonder why I'm not making the big bucks, as I'm sure I could do much better!
