Christmas in July : Part 4 - The Grand Finale

Happy July 25 - five months from Christmas Day, if you can believe it!  Sadly, this is the last week we will be celebrating Christmas in July here on the blog.  I've gotta tell you, I have enjoyed doing this so much, and hearing from everyone with the various questions you have all answered.

Alas, all good things must end - but not before the final giveaway, which is just a little bit different than the other packages.  This is what the winner will be receiving.

It's a project bag starring Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the version from the Rankin-Bass show that is my very favorite one in the world!  Here is a closeup of the fabric:

I love it so!  It's from Molly Klein Design, a great shop on Etsy with pretty yarn and some fabulous project bags.  You may wonder why, if I love it so, I'm using it for a giveaway.  Well, I ordered one for myself last year when I saw them, but I inadvertently placed two different orders for the same thing.  Rather than go to the trouble of returning it, I decided to keep it for a gift, which of course I promptly forgot.  But as it turns out, that's to your advantage!

What is different  this time, is that what you receive will have some added mystery, as the best gifts from Santa Claus do.  Because I'm showing you the project bag, but - WHAT WILL BE INSIDE???  It could be anything - Candy?  Yarn?  Patterns?  A lovely photo of me?  Books?  Money? (OK, I can tell you for sure that it will not contain money, but you get the drift.)

In order to be eligible to win this somewhat mysterious package, tell me your answer to this question in the comments:

What is your very favorite and least favorite holiday food?  I don't mean just Christmas, but for instance, do you really like July 4th potato salad, but you could definitely skip the mincemeat pie that your Aunt Mildred brings for Thanksgiving?  Let me know!

I'll choose a winner at random on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 5 p.m. EDT - good luck, everyone!

Oh fun!!! That fabric is just so cute. Now for the hard part - the question. Hard because I LOVE all food (well, not organ meat...but that's never on a holiday food list - or any food list anyway). So, favorite would maybe be my Mom's pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving (my son's is awfully close!!). I also love my MIL's cranberry chutney. For least favorite it would be cheeseburgers on the grill at 4th of July. I love burgers...I love steak sandwiches...I just hate cheese on my meat though - lol.

I am pretty open to shaking things up and trying new things at the holidays . . . except for Thanksgiving! I love the Thanksgiving foods I have prepared for decades (traditional favorites, all), and will probably never change a thing! Holiday foods I hate, though? Easy. I hate marshmallows on sweet potatoes, and I despise fruitcake! :-)

Thanks for hosting Christmas in July. My favorite holiday food - frosted sugar cookies! Least favorite food - twice baked potatoes as they are much too rich and I've been sick every time I've tried them. I've learned to request a plain baked potato.

I hate watermelon, which shows up at all Fourth of July picnics as if it's a real dessert option.

Stuffing is my favorite Thanksgiving/Christmas dish. We used to make the Pepperidge Farm blue bag stuff according to the directions. But they changed it all about 10 years ago, so now my mom uses it as a base, mixes it with cranberries & some egg and bakes stuffing haystacks, which are delicious hot or room-temperature.

Thanksgiving is the holiday for most of our family's food traditions, and it's also the occasion for my favorite and hated holiday food. The one I love most is fried stuffing. You just take that cold, unappetizing casserole of leftover Thanksgiving stuffing, slice it, fry until it's crispy on the outside and devour! Having leftover stuffing to fry is really the only reason I make it. The food I hate is sweet potatoes, in any form, and with marshmallows is the absolute worst. I wonder who came up with that awfulness?!

Rudolph is also one of my all time favorite Christmas shows (topped only by the Grinch!). That is a very fun project bag. As for holiday foods, Thanksgiving has always been my least favorite holiday for food. I don't really like turkey. But the day is saved by pumpkin pie!

I won't enter since I just won but I had to say that bag is adorable.

Oh, this is a great question. My favourite holiday is by far Thanksgiving. It does not involve gift shopping or months-long hype, and it serves up both my favourite and least favourite holiday foods. My favourite holiday food is--by far--turkey gravy. Seriously. I see the rest of Thanksgiving food as merely a Conveyance For Turkey Gravy. My least favourite holiday food is pumpkin pie. What a waste of pie! Bland, boring, textureless, and only one crust. I make two of them for my family, but I eat a small bowl of whipped cream with chocolate syrup and chopped nuts. Far and away preferable to that sad pie.

The favorite is easy --------stuffing. It's just a plain bread stuffing, but it wouldn't be Thanksgiving or Christmas without it.

The not so favorite is harder. I like most things. Maybe oyster stuffing that my step-mother-in-law used to make. No worries though .....the rest of the table more than made up for it. (Just can't do the OYSTER thing.)

I cannot stand deviled eggs for easter or any baby shower or any fourth of july gathering. I hate eggs. I also dont like okra. Period. I love breads of all kinds .and Gravy. Gravy is the best! for any holiday. Even the fourth. Flank steak with a smooth gravy made of the drippings...or au jus. MMMMMM. I want to win!

I really like most foods but it seems any holiday contains cooked broccoli. Yuck. I like it raw but not cooked. Always the veggie everyone wants. Christmas for me is all about the cookies. I love them all. Can’t get enough. So I don’t bake them. Period. Lol. Love the bag. Love Rudolph. He’s my hero.

Hands down my favorite thing is stuffing and gravy. Just please no dried fruit in it, no nuts, I like a basic sage sausage or plan stuffing.

Things I dislike. this whiskey sweet potato recipe someone does. It's strong for me. I can usually eat it. But my biggest gross out is hard boiled eggs at Easter. I can devil egg if well seasoned by just plain old hard boiled eggs? OMG my inner 8 year old is running around the lawn going EWW. I used to save them in my sock drawer for home made stink bombs. I was an annoying child.

I love rudolph -- and the bag is just too cute. I have a special rudolph t-shirt and socks for the most wonderful time of the year. LOL

I despise potato salad at any of the summer holidays -- I can't stand celery, raw onion, or hard-boiled eggs and nearly every potato salad contains at least two of those three things!

My favorite holiday dish is the pumpkin dump cake that we make every Thanksgiving. No one in this house particularly likes pumpkin pie, but we love this dump cake!

Mashed potatoes are my favorite! And I'm not a great big fan of turkey. We cook one every year, but honestly, it's just one of those things that has to be on the TG table.

How could you possibly let that Rudolph bag go? Please tell me you have one of your own.
