Autumn

"Come said the wind to the leaves one day,

Come o're the meadows and we will play.

Put on your dresses scarlet and gold,

For summer is gone and the days grow cold."

- Children's Song of the 1880's

What a great quote!

Come, come now Carol. Is it that you're really just sad that summer's come to an end? (said with a smile and a wink!)

I love the turn of the seasons, each has it's day so distinct that you know the turn has come. These lines are so evocative. Coffee on the deck this morning required a sweater. Fall flowers will start blooming,
skeltons will appear on doorways, leaves will fill the streets and rustle as we walk. Knitters will pull out summers bounty of sweaters, hats and mitts. I am ready for the smell of wood smoke on the evening breeze.

Bridget- Robert Frost's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is lovely.

Isn't the weather glorious?

We are getting lovely Fall-ish breezes; hope it isn't false (or Fallse) advertising!
