Puerto Rico Vacation: Copamarina, The Plant Life

Well, that was a lost weekend.  My cold or whatever it is moved to the next level.  Finally today the dr gave me some meds, so hopefully I'll feel better (and get some sleep) soon.  Ugh.

BUT - let's move on to happier topics, and pretty pictures.  In my second installment of our time at Copamarian, I'm sharing photos of the plant life.  (If you missed the first part, where I show you the views there, check out this post.)

This first photo is specifically for Dee, who I know has orchid plants, and seems to have real luck growing them.  It was not an uncommon sight in Puerto Rico to see orchid plants attached to trees!  So pretty, but also surprising.

And here for your enjoyment, are the other photos.

Just lovely! Seeing orchids in the wild is pretty amazing!

I'm so sorry about your cold (or whatever it's morphing into) -- but hope you're finally on the healing path.

Beautiful plants! I'm all about color and blooms now that spring has finally decided to hang around Wyoming for a bit. Tulips and some blooming fruit trees are the only bits of color, but more will come.

Thank you for the lovely parade of plants; they give me hope in this cold spring weather! That orchid is really beautiful and it's so nice to see them in their natural habitat. Hope you feel better soon!

Beautiful plants. Those palm trees you showed are one of my favorite kinds. I love the smooth green trunks.

Sadly, I lost all but ONE of my orchids when I moved to Jacksonville. They really DO prefer growing ON trees.

I'll be back at it once we buy a house. You can be sure of that. LOL

Orchids are part of that interesting group of plants, epiphytes, whose roots can suck the water they need right out of moist air. I wrote about them for work at one point, http://sciencenetlinks.com/daily-content/9/2/, because of my own orchids' wildly splaying roots. (My office is not nearly humid enough to let them rely on drinking that way, so I water mine.)

Get Well Soon! I'm glad you're well enough to share your photos though :) Love the orchid w/the trees. But yes, lots of lovely plants.
