Huh?

Carol posted about this the other day, and at the time, I was slightly amused by it. However, I am now puzzled about the entire thing. Not that I think people wouldn't want to knit "icons," but I'm just not so sure that we needed a book. Well, Bridget, you may be saying to yourself, there are plenty of books being published that no one really needs. And I would be the first to agree with you (The Gospel According to Oprah springs immediately to mind).

And then I remembered that Rupert Murdoch is now the owner of the Wall Street Journal. One of the new network shows in the upcoming season features the cavemen characters from an insurance commercial. And every year, hundreds of people risk their lives running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, in an effort to be like Ernest Hemingway.

I'm just saying that sometimes, it makes me wonder why people think I'm the weird one ...

I wonder if it's possible to set up a "please good heavens please don't ever give me this book" list on Amazon?

All I can say is "wow." Personally, I've never found a time when I need to cuddle up to a knitted Mr. T!

OMG. Seriously, OMG. I'm with Teabird on this one -- please please please don't ever let this book wind up in my possession.

As I'm having reaffirmed for me in our little contest, there is no --- NO --- accounting for taste.

(And I use the word very loosely. Surgical-removal-of-excess-skin loosely.)

Oh! I must have that book! And knit them all.

Or possibly a nice stay in a quiet place with no windows would be better.......

I am the owner of a hand-knitted Phillie Phanatic and E.T. doll--the latter of such freakishness that it was relegated to the basement and provided many thousands of "Eeek!" moments when chanced upon under a single, low-wattage lightbulb whilst carrying baskets of laundry. So this book amuses the absolute hell out of me.

And remember, if Vanna White can publish her autobiography you can, too.

Who said you were weird? grrrrr

Um, to add to your list of books of dubious value, how about "If I Did It" by OJ.

With that said, I just might need to have this book, if just for the sheer, freakin' weirdness of it all.

Yes, there should be a registry that people who wish to buy you gifts can visit, only these would be gifts to never receive!! Teabird is right:)!

And, by the way, a knit Gandhi?? An I-cord, maybe?

I can see someone wanting to knit Snoopy. That's quite understandable. But those other characters, pleeze.

Um. They're making a show with the cavemen from those insurance commercials??? OK. They work as a commercial. I guess they ran out of reality topics to show.

I don't think I'd want to knit any icon. Don't care who it is...
