What have I been up to lately, you may ask??

Besides knitting and reading (and of course showing up for work), I have been busy with some other things recently.

Last weekend, for instance, the weather felt like fall, and I felt like baking. So I tried a recipe I first saw referenced by June, and made two loaves of Ricotta Bliss Bread:

You actually use a food processor for this recipe, and it does most of the kneading! The recipe was a little bit involved (I'm not all that experienced with yeast bread recipes), but the resulting bread was really delicious! It turns out to have a light texture, and though it doesn't taste cheesy, there is a slight sweetness to it.

Plus, your house smells wonderful while it's baking ...

I was also busy getting organized to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday, October 14. I missed it last year, but had enjoyed it the year before, so I'm glad to be able to do it again this year. I enjoy having the opportunity to help a cause by just taking a pleasant walk, and to be honest, I feel I owe it to those affected by breast cancer who can't participate, for whatever reason.

If you happen to be sitting around with a pot of money, and were wishing that someone would ask you to donate some of it, you are more than welcome to support my efforts by going here. I can assure you that no dollar will be turned away. :-)

It occurs to me that I could make it fun for all of you by having a contest for anyone who donated, but I'm not that organized at the moment, so you'll just have to be happy with a good feeling for having done a good deed ...

Finally, I may be quieter than usual for a while, due to this:

Fortunately, it's not as serious as it looks, but I will be sporting this accessory until October 19, when the stitches are removed. As you can imagine, typing is somewhat slow and tedious, and knitting is non-existent. However, I'm glad I was able to get it done (btw, it wasn't for a case of carpal tunnel), and that it's my right hand (I'm left-handed).

I do have painkillers* which really help, even if they do make me a little bit loopy, so I can just concentrate on some of my reading, and catching up on movies and TV for the next couple of weeks.

*The dr gave me Vicodin, which prompted The Tim to say, "Cool! Vicodin is what 'House' is addicted to!" So you see, there's something for the whole family to enjoy here ...

So sorry about your carpal tunnel (which has always sounded to me like some horrible highway project.) So jealous that you get to take Vicodin. So sure that, having taken said Vicodin, you'll be unable to read/watch movies/watch TV.

Vicodin is one of my favorites... I totally understand why it's House's drug of choice!

Best of luck with the healing process (sounds like you might even enjoy it). The bread looks wonderful ~ I bet it's great with a nice salad. I guess your knitting is on hold for a while. I've been there - you will enjoy it all the more for having had a break!

I hope whatever caused it, it heals quickly! Vicodin is lovely but I get the worst headaches from it.

It's all reading & watching TV! Hmm. Is it wrong to think "Lucky girl!"?

Ugh, what a bummer! Sorry to hear about your arm, and I'll be sending good and quick healing vibes your way. No knitting? *shudder*

OMG, you've got a boo-boo! Sorry about that girl. I really missed you, I had serious PC issues and had to get a new cpu and all. I did, however, finish Clapotis! I can not believe I actually knit it in one week! I think I'm at some sort a really nice crossroad here. I'll get some $ over there as soon as I get paid, the prize is in making you smile. Take care of yourself girl!

Ouch! Poor wrist! I hope you heal quickly and thoroughly, and that you enjoy the knitting break. I'd use it as an excuse to re-read all my pattern books. :)

Gosh, no wonder I haven't seen you posting pictures of your Clapotis. Sure hope your arm feels better soon.

I certainly do not wish you pain but I must confess to being a little happy someone else is not making progress on their Clap besides me :)

The bread looks delicious! Such pretty loaves too.
