Sticky

I haven't done one of these for a while, mostly because some of the topics didn't really "grab" me. But this week's Booking Through Thursday sounded like it would be fun, so here goes:

I saw this over at Shelley's, and thought it would be a great question for all of you:
"This can be a quick one. Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes."

OK, synchronize your watches!

1. Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott.
2. Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe.
3. Black Beauty, by Anna Sewell.
4. The Incredible Journey, by Sheila Burnford.
5. The Cloister Walk, by Kathleen Norris.
6. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen.
7. The Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas (ok, I'm still reading this but I LOVE it!).
8. David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens (the first Dickens book I ever read).
9. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee.
10. Colored People, by Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
11. The Five of Hearts, by Patricia O'Toole.
12. The Country Girls, by Edna O'Brien.
13. Dubliners, by James Joyce.
14. Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley.
15. Ellen Foster, by Kaye Gibbons.

This was fun! It's interesting for me to see the first fifteen things that popped into my head. I wonder what my responses would be on another day ...

Try it yourself, and see what your brain gives you!

I've been meaning to read the Achebe for some time now. I can't remember if it was Dubliners or Chaucer's Canterbury Tales that I hated. (Most likely it was Chaucer)

Here's mine.

It really was fun!

I had To Kill a Mockingbird on my list as well.

To Kill a Mockingbird is perhaps my favorite, and yet... it got left off the list I did on Facebook, somehow. Go figure!

Hmm, mine wouldn't be quite so educmacated. ;) I think the first three books on mine would be Someplace To Be Flying by Charles de Lint, Bellwether by Connie Willis, and To Say Nothing of the Dog, or How We Found the Bishop's Bird Stump at Last by Connie Willis.

My brain just spontaneously combusted:

Three Musketeers, Dumas
The Godwulf Manuscript, Parker
Mists of Avalon, Bradley
Dracula, Stoker
Heath Anthology of American Lit
Riverside Shakespeare
(Do those two count? Because I read them both. The whole way through. And you just don't forget the impact bigass volumes have on you.)
Club Dumas, Perez Reverte
Moby Dick, Melville
The Loved One, Waugh
Better Homes & Garden cookbook, circa 1963
The Man in the Brown Suit, Christie
Princess Daisy, Krantz (My mom never weeded the bookshelves so this was one of my first sexy books. Beat Blume's "Forever" that's for sure.)
Undertaker's Gone Bananas, Zindel (This led to many of my oddball choices in teen and preteen fiction. Great stuff.)

*plonk*

I'm toast.

Great list! I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I haven't read any of the books on your list, but I have several of them on my wish list(just have to make my TBR pile a bit smaller first). P&P actually is in my TBR pile.

Enjoy your weekend :)
