Five Favorites for This Friday

Even more than usual, TGIF!! (By the way, have you seen Kym's new way to interpret that?  I may have to give that a try myself in the future.)

Thanks for all of your kind and supportive words over the past few weeks.  This week has been particularly brutal, and so I need a favorites post to keep me from just losing it altogether.  So let's see what we have to think about that has been good over the past week.

1.  The weather.  The actual weather outside - not in my head!  It's been a lovely week here in Philadelphia.  Tuesday was the least enjoyable to me, since it was warmer and more humid than it has been recently.  But other than that, the days have been sunny, warm but not too warm, with  nice breezes and overnight temperatures that require a sheet or lightweight quilt to be comfy.  Particularly given what other places are dealing with, it's been perfect.

2.  Our trip to Nockamixon State Park on Labor Day.  It was such a nice day, and though there were lots of people around, it was not crowded in the least.  We saw and petted lots of pups, laughed at some of the kiddos at the pool, and enjoyed watching the birds of prey flying around.  We saw hawks, buzzards, and even some brown eagles.  Even better, none of them were interested in us!

3.  Kim's Knitters Hunk and Knitters Chick contest.  It's just gotten underway, and if you haven't been participating, you should.  Not only is it fun to see who is nominated and vote, but I find it fascinating to see who is involved.  So many people nominate their faves that you truly see a crazy range of people.

4.  Kindness.  Seeing how people have been going out of their way to actually do what they can for others with all of the hurricanes, wildfires, flooding, and even earthquakes happening.  So much of our daily lives has been overtaken by the horrific actions of the current administration in DC, that it was rewarding to be reminded that most people, when given the opportunity, have true kindness in their hearts.

5.  Farm stands.  On our way home  this past Monday, we stopped at a farm stand and bought some fresh corn, a cantaloupe and some peaches.   We are still enjoying all of them, and they really and truly are so much yummier than what you can buy at a grocery store.

Hopefully there has been at least one thing this week that has made you happy.  And here is wishing all of us a good weekend!  For those of you anywhere near any of the terrible weather, I hope that you and yours will be OK.

Take care, everyone.

It's always a good idea to count blessings and recognize the good things, especially when things are pretty crappy. I have been reminded of that by friends in MT who are evacuated and fear they've lost their home to wildfires. They would love to have some of the humidity I complain about so readily, and while I'm never going to love humid stickiness, I can at least see some good in it. Wishing you a good weekend and a week ahead with LOTS of good.

Wow! You are Blogging In Bunches, and I cannot keep up.

Glad you can find 5 Faves to chat about. Like you, I'm glad for a bit cooler temps and low humidity, but I AM FREEZING OVER HERE. And...what the heck do I wear? Is it too early for my leggings and boots? Can I bust out my sweaters?

I HAVE ALREADY TURNED ON MY FURNACE. I will not suffer in my own home.

Sadly, I am One Of Those Annoying Women Who Is Cold All The Time.

Farm Stand Produce--What, no peaches?

Sigh. Me again. Just saw that you DID get peaches. Ooops.

A lovely post Bridget. I know this week has been yucky (saying it as nicely as I can) for you. Hoping the weekend will provide you with plenty of relaxing, knitting (not too much!!), good food and lots of laughs. Enjoy!

I actually got some sewing done this week and finished a quilt top, which made me happy.

Temperatures have been in the mid-80s all week, which has been nice. I just wish the wildfire smoke wasn't covering the deep blue sky that I know is up there somewhere. Sigh.

All in all . . . sounds like a pretty good week.

Sending good vibes for a new job soon.

The weather has taken a turn for the better but I still am fighting the humidity. I went and bought a gauge for the house so I can convince The Mister we still need the AC on and the dehumidifiers. Living near a huge body of warm water is just making things worse. I could grow mushrooms in the basement.

I love all your favorite things! The weather here has been gorgeous. I feel guilty when things are so awful with the hurricanes, and we've been having perfect weather!

I've been moved to tears many times by stories of kindness lately.

The weather here is beginning to have a definite Fall feel to it. Nice for sitting in the porch swing and reading.

Thanks for the mention! It's definitely an extremely eclectic group of nominees this year.

I will firmly believe that most people are nice. Farm stands have the freshest food and I love when I go to them. Enjoy your fresh produce!

Whenever . . . things. . . start to pile up and weigh me down, I always find it helpful to count my blessings -- although that's awfully challenging sometimes. Making a list of favorite-things is a great way to remind ourselves that life is good and we have much to be grateful for. It's a start! Sending hugs and good wishes for a better week. XO

This is a good list Bridget. I like it, because you're absolutely right, there is always something good happening in there.
