I'm writing this from our hotel room at the Days Inn in Colonial Williamsburg (do we know how to live it up, or what?). Today is the first day of our vacation - the first one we have had since our trip to Ireland in 2003! Granted, Williamsburg is not Ireland, but it's still a great place to visit, and our first day has been great, though too warm and humid weather-wise. But this is better than Tropical Storm Gabrielle, which is what one of the possibilities was late last week ...
We arrived around lunchtime, and checked into our room, then headed out to have lunch, and visit the Jamestown Settlement. We had been to the Jamestown archaeological site years ago, but for the 350th anniversary of the settlement, they recreated the village, and constructed replicas of the ships. It was very interesting, and unfortunately, one of the pictures I was dying to post turned out too blurry ... it was a guy (The Tim swears it was a woman, but it was a guy), in animal skins, talking about how they constructed their own reed huts for shelter. He had a tattoo. Somehow it didn't match ...
But in the end, you'll probably enjoy this picture more:
Yeah. My very own knight in [not] shining armor.

tell tim that instead of a warrior from the movie "300" he looks like an extra from "30"...
Hee hee hee... That would be such a cool place to visit!
Enjoy your trip!
Ah, I used to live not far from that Days Inn. If you come across a very nice horse with one eye in Colonial Williamsburg, his name is Roger, give him a pat from me!
It's not my fault!
Ye Olde Whitche Brigitte put an enchantment on me!
(I will be burning her at sundown.)

Williamsburg, the home of the anachronism. I hope you are having fun!
The pic of Tim is priceless!
You guys are too funny! I guess when they a knight on a white horse, he thought they said in white shorts? ;) I couldn't resist! Gabrielle is heading out in the Atlantic, so enjoy! Glad I don't have to worry about you guys! Have a great time!
have fun, they are putting on quite the show for this 400 year. The fourth graders go for a field trip every year to jamestown and occasionally williamsburgh if they can fit it in. And i have a great childhood story of vandelism where we went around crossing out the extra e and other letters in my historic "olde towne"
Too funny. Good to see you all are having lots of fun.
It looks like he's off to go spelunking! I love time travel vacations. As a child we traveled old highway 49 in California (named after the 49ers from the gold rush era). We panned for gold, took a stage coach ride - complete with being robbed by bandits on horseback - and ate homemade berry pies. So cool. I want to go back and do it again!
Enjoy your trip! And stop in the store when you get back - we have so much new stuff!

Le Tim looks like a refugee from a Python sketch. :)
