Hello, and I hope you have a good Monday. I would say that for an awful lot of people in Philadelphia, it's an exhausting and voiceless Monday. Because, in a weird alignment of planetary forces, not just one but TWO of our sports teams are doing well!
Now, I was home all weekend, and the weather was stunning, so yes, I did get out for a walk yesterday, but for anyone who attended the actual games, it wasn't just the weather that was great.
On Saturday, the Phillies won the playoff series against that Atlanta Braves to move on to the divisional championship that leads to the World Series. It was so exciting, because for a good chunk of the baseball season, the team seemed to be full of wonderful people who often seemed to be not aware it was an actual game underway.
But it was so great because not only did they win the series, they won at home! Look at all of the Phillies Red in the stands:
And well, these are just the kinds of things you want to see, but around here, are more infrequent than not.
And after listening to the announcers during the series talk ad nauseum about how wonderful in every way the Atlanta Braves are, it was nice that they just had to shut up about it.
Now, as if that isn't enough, our NFL team, the Eagles are the ONLY undefeated team right now - WHAAAT??? And that fact in and of itself is exciting, but even more so than that - last night, the Eagles won their game against the Dallas Cowboys, which is usually enough alone to make people happy about the football season. But as of today, they are undefeated still AND won against the Cowboys!
(No photos from our TV because I was really tired and couldn't stay up for the game. 😊)
And I know that sports is not the answer to every problem in the world. But
at least for right now, people around here are just so happy and cheerful that it's nice to experience. So much else is terrible both here and everywhere that having a brief, uniting thing to make people smile makes a big difference.*****
Here's hoping this will be a good week for all of us. I have a dentist appt this morning that I am hoping will be as short as possible, because although my dentist is a lovely person,

I thought of you as I was watching the game last night (yay West Coast Sunday night football, which starts before 5:30 pm and thus is over at a very reasonable time). What a great time to be in Philadelphia!
Being in the Wash DC area I would not know how that feels....lol. Well, there was that Nationals thing a while back. That was pretty cool.
It's so nice when your hometown sports teams are WINNERS!!!! Enjoy the revelry, Bridget. XO
