Ravelling Into the New Year

I must admit that there is a certain level of comfort in the new year, knowing that some things will remain, like Unraveled Wednesdays.  I always enjoy reading posts from everyone, especially people who are new to me.

So what am I sharing today?  Well, this has been my 2018 knitting so far - the start of a Cozy Memories Blanket, using this pattern.

When I saw Dee last week, and saw her blanket in person, I said that I planned to start mine on New Year's Day, and so she gave me a ball of yarn to use.  It's the red and white striped one, and the first one I knit, since that seemed so appropriate.  The second square is leftover yarn from my Hannah Socks.  I'm finding it fun but am at the point where I still need to play close attention so I won't make a mess of it.  I'm also getting ready to cast on a pair of socks, but that hasn't happened yet.

As for reading, I've had this one on my Nook for a while, and decided to finally give it a try.

It sounds like it could be a fun read.  I'll let you know.  :-)

OK, lunch hour is over, so that's it for now.

I haven't heard of your book, but the title intrigues me. I look forward to your review.

So, maybe you, Dee and I can form a blanket society or something? I have about 15 squares done on my blanket...but haven't touched it in months. Maybe I'll get back to it this weekend. The All Roads book looks interesting...let us know how it is!!

So happy you liked the yarn. If you are keeping track, that yarn is The Fiber Seed 'Sprout' and the colorway is Hawthorne.

Have fun. I have really enjoyed knitting those squares.

You'll have to let me know how you like All Roads Lead to Austen.

That's so nice that your blanket is started with a gift from Dee! It will be lovely watching it grow, square by square.

I know you'll enjoy knitting the blanket, especially with such a memorable starting square.

I have seen a few new scrappy blankets beginning. Don’t think I’ll climb on that train but they are fun to see.

That's fun that you are starting your own blanket out of knitted squares too. Its nice that Dee gave you yarn to start it off and it is a great idea to start right at the new year. Hope you enjoy your book and knitting!

You are tempting me with that blanket. I have my leftovers ready and waiting. I just need to find the time.

I love mitered square blankets. I've been knitting one for about 3 years now. I'm using left over sock yarn scraps. Last spring I put it away because it had gotten too big and warm to knit on during the summer. It's definitely cold enough now to enjoy having it piled up in my lap. Thanks for the reminder to pull it back out and maybe even finish it!
