Of course, everyone (well, except me) is already talking about the excitement of summer, and how great the hot weather is, will be, etc. Though the official start of summer is weeks away, after Memorial Day, I think most of us go into summer brain mode. I am hoping that this summer will not be a brutal one, but in my heart I know better. So like every year, I'm trying to psych myself up for the things I actually do enjoy about summer (fresh fruit and veggies, spending the day at the ocean, for example) and try to be in as good a mood as possible. This year we won't be taking any vacation in the sense of traveling, but I'm hoping to take some days here and there to just not be at work, which after all is what vacation is about anyway.
I thought that some of these cartoons might give you a smile as we say goodbye to May and hello to June, while summertime barrels towards us.
One thing that helps is if you can dress more appropriately.
Also, keep telling yourself that it *is* summer, and you are supposed to take it easy.
This one reminded me of the past few days and all the rain - the other day, The Tim said, "Well, at least our plants are happy!"
Also, barbecues can be fun.
In the end, though, I can sympathize with Calvin ...

Yup, I'm in complete agreement with Calvin, too!
I so sympathize with Calvin. Growing up in the Midwest, we were always sent outdoors because with the long winters, we were taught to make the most of good weather when it arrived. I still feel guilty if I'm indoors when it's "nice" outside.
LOL - good ones Bridget. And I'm another one agreeing with Calvin.
Hilarious and all too true....I hate summer. Ticks, mosquitoes, poison ivy, humidity, thunderstorms. Ugh. I'm already ready for fall. The living is NOT easy here. I've got a mess to clean up this morning from last night's storm and thanks to all this rain the grass is up to our armpits. Ugh.
Our car is terminal, and with only one income the thing that sustains me through the summer -- trips to the beach -- are likely out. Trips to the park are free, though, so you'll find me under a tree, covered in bug spray.
I'm one of those summer-lovers . . . sorry. I wish you cool breezes and plenty of shade, some lemonade and a popsicle or two. The season is short, and soon it will be autumn again! Hang in there, Bridget! XO
As always, Calvin gets it so right! LOL
Stay dry! (this weather is just nuts!!)
It is hot and humid here, last week several days of 96 degrees, that is just disgusting. Here is to a cooler summer!
I awoke to thunder in the distance. I find this so comforting. Then we got rains. Then sun. Then rain and hail and thunder and lightening. Its been a stressful few days so I loved the storm.
Summer is a joy for me almost always. I have new flower seeds planted and I will watch them grow! I have a off my bedroom patio plant group this year!
Move to Canada! We haven't even put our A/C on yet!
