It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ...

Well, I must say that my criticism of the lyrics to the song in my last post certainly seemed to step on some toes ... (or did I give others' toes away to be stepped on by someone else, a la the song???) It's just that I think the lyrics make no sense. I didn't mean to cast aspersions on the artists performing the song. Geez. But it's my opinion, and no one else's, so I think that I should be safe from having Dominick the Donkey forced on me ... OK?

We had a good weekend. (Well, I had a good weekend, I'm afraid that Tim had a rough day yesterday at work.) Here's a question, though - would you let these people trim your Christmas tree??
This is from our trip to the 'burbs on Saturday, to help Sebastian and his mom Karen trim their Christmas tree. We had a great time, and Karen made hot chocolate from Oaxaca, which was quite yummy. There were also cookies, and chips and salsa, so we just ate, drank, and tree-trimmed our way through the afternoon! Sebastian's Uncle John was visiting, having just returned from Iraq, so we got to meet him, and get him to tell us some incriminating stories about when he and Karen were growing up. Because what's the fun of meeting someone's sibling, if you can't get that kind of info out of them??

Who's who in this picture (you can probably guess, but anyway): I'm in the red sweater, Tim is behind me, Karen is on the other side of Tim, and Seb is in the middle of all of us. (Uncle John took this picture with Tim's new camera.)

Once we left, we finished up some Christmas shopping, then headed home. Yesterday, Tim had to work during the day, but I got the Christmas cards addressed, the gifts organized and made note of who gets what, and where it's headed, and got out the holiday dishes.

I took all of the Mondays in December off from work, partly for fun, and partly because I had some doctor's appointments. I'm really enjoying the long weekends, not just because, well, who wouldn't, but also because it's nice to be at a dr appointment and not worry that it is eating up your vacation time or something. Today I am hoping to get things wrapped, and if possible, get a few things shipped to people, or at least ready to be sent. And we will probably work on decorating our tree. We had originally planned to do it last night, but figured it would be more fun when we both had the energy to enjoy it. We may get a picture or two out of it, you never know ...

We'd better get our tree ready though, since Christmas is 2 weeks from today!

So you admit - you are just playing hookie from all the important people here. Well yours will come later in the week.

Love the pic with Karen and Seb. Will this be included in this year's cards? This way Tim can so off his "grandson"

Hi,

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blog. I read it sometimes while I'm at work in order to get through the day. I have the co-worker from hell, whom I can say without exaggeration, is a complete and total b*tch. She just makes life here difficult for everyone. But I feel much better after I've read the sweet and funny stories you share here and feel like I can bare the rest of the day despite that gearing up for Boca waist of space. You have a lovely family and thank you for sharing them with us, your cyber pals.

Sincerely,

Courtney Bailing

No, no, if it were a Mormon Christmas the chicks would have to be under 16 and there'd be a white salamander lurking around.

I'm feeling nasty since I spent all of yesterday singing that godawful song you were talking about...

Mormon Christmas - HA! Talk about as far away as you could get from that ... trust me, no one pictured has ever even thought of becoming a Mormon. (And I'm pretty sure that any Mormon friends and acquaintances I have are grateful for that!)

Hey B! Your family is so cute! I've been "tho thick" the last 4 days, I can barely read all my buddie's posts. Luckily, I don't recall the song you posted about (& I won't check it out either). Thanks!

Will we get to see the tree?
And what on earth would a Mormon tree look like? Would there be miniature temple garments or something? Strange... Anyhow, you're right, no one deserves to have "Dominic the donkey" forced on them. Not even...

Isn't hooky when you call out sick and you're not really but you can't stand to be around the people you work with? Which, technically, makes you sick but more sick of the people you work with than sick with contagious disease.

Mormons are creepy. There, I've said it. I'll not take it back. And they probably decorate many a fertile tree.

I'm singing the Snoopy & Red Baron Xmas song now, which is all kinds of happy. A snippet pour vous:

Christmas bells those Christmas bells, ringing through the land! Bringing peace to all the world! And good will to Man!

Go Snoopy!

i'm astonished by all the mormon bashing...(actually i'm not, but feel the need to show my self righteous moral indignation)...the under age, white salamander thing killed me..very funny...all i was saying was that tim looked tres pimpilicious in the foto...(spanish derivative)

Maybe I was asleep during Sunday School at some point in the last 29 years of my Mormonism, but I don't recall any white Salamanders. Anyone care to elaborate? Oh, and the first giveaway that this isn't a Mormon Christmas is the lack of horns on anyone's head. As a Mormon, I can assert that the more righteous one becomes, the larger the horns get. As I am relatively young, my horns are not as large as I hope they will be, although they are quite noticeable.
