First Sunday of Advent 2020

Waiting for the Light : An Advent Poem
by Chris Yokel

Would you wait
several thousand years
for someone to make good
on their promise,

especially if you knew
they had the power
to fulfill it in a moment?

Perhaps, yes,
if you were sitting in the dark,
and your only hope
was the long, slow deliverance
of sunrise.
